DexProtector 16.1.9

Fundamental reinforcements to runtime resilience, attestation, and network security.

The latest version of DexProtector (16.1) has been independently evaluated and approved for a sixth consecutive year by EMVCo under their Software-Based Mobile Payment (SBMP) Software Protection Tool (SPT) evaluation program. The significance of this approval extends across industries and applications, since EMVCo approval remains the strongest independent marker for a protection tool's robustness, based on expert analysis and rigorous testing.

Key enhancements in DexProtector 16.1.9 are set out below.

The DexProtector Runtime Engine (DRE)
  • Incorporates new self-protection mechanisms that help the DRE withstand analysis and tampering attempts
  • Provides the strongest foundation for RASP, attestation, and anti-fraud measures during the protected app's runtime
Attestation
  • Improved detection and evasion of process tracing utilities, which attackers use to observe and manipulate security-critical operations
  • Reinforced device attestation to mitigate spoofing via modules such as TrickyStore, extending coverage across Android device models
  • New detections for Frida modules on iOS, strengthening defenses against instrumentation tools used to tamper with runtime processes and bypass security controls
Network Security
  • For apps using Certificate Transparency (CT) checks, we’ve included an update to ensure compatibility with the newer tiled log format. This enables CT checks to validate modern SCT formats correctly

Please note that if you’ve renewed or reissued certificates recently, we recommend updating apps in production soon with DexProtector 16.1.9. That way you can refresh the embedded log list and account for the newer CT logs that began to be deployed through late 2025 and early 2026.

  • a new network security policy option to enforce the use of recommended secure cipher suites, blocking connections that don’t meet current cryptographic standards
  • extended Public Key Pinning and Certificate Transparency checks to TLS over raw TCP socket connections, bringing DexProtector's powerful network security capabilities to apps that rely on custom networking stacks
Xamarin
  • Added support for .NET 9 (Xamarin), ensuring protection for newer Xamarin/.NET asset formats, so teams can take advantage of new features, and ongoing performance and runtime enhancements
